Opposition Says to Launch Campaign in Provinces

From April 21, after the Orthodox Easter holidays, opposition leaders will launch campaign in the provincial regions to mobilize supporters there, Eka Beselia of Movement for United Georgia party, said on Wednesday.

In a statement made on behalf of the opposition parties organizing the ongoing protests and aired live by the public TV, Beselia said: “We will organize participation of the citizens, willing to take part in this process, and to organize arrival of convoys of these citizens in the capital city. Not only Tbilisi, but the entire Georgia will be involved in this [protests].”

Meanwhile in Tbilisi, the opposition leaders plan to resume the rally outside the Parliament at 3pm local time on April 15 – the seventh day of protests. Opposition activists remain camped outside the presidential residence as well and mocked-up cells also remain outside the public TV’s office. The traffic outside the public TV – one of Tbilisi’s key thoroughfares – was blocked from Tuesday evening by the protesters, but it was reopened overnight and remained opened at the time of writing this report.

Although there were some considerations among some opposition leaders to take break and not to hold rallies over coming weekend, when Orthodox Christian mark Easter, an eventual decision was made in favor of continuing protests.
