Church Calls for Restraint as Tension ‘Nears to Critical Level’

The Georgian Orthodox Church said in a statement released on March 28, that the political tension in the country “is approaching its critical level” and called on both the authorities and opposition “not to resort to violence.”

“[The authorities and the opposition] should take such steps, which will help to resolve the problems and to defuse the existing tension through peaceful means,” the statement reads. “We also call on each member of our society to show wisdom, to stay calm.”
