Bakradze Calls on Opposition for a Dialogue
Georgian Parliamentary Chairman Davit Bakradze, who is now visiting the United States, called on the opposition for a dialogue and said that the authorities were ready “to take concrete steps” in that direction.
“The only way to defuse tensions is a dialogue,” he told Georgian television reporters. “We declare once again that we are ready for such a dialogue and we are ready not rhetorically but through taking concrete steps.”
He said that creation of a new election code is one of such steps. Mostly the parliamentary parties are involved in the development of the new election code. Bakradze said that “unfortunately, radical opposition is not taking part in this process.”
“We are ready to discuss some other steps as well, that will promote dialogue and creation of a normal atmosphere for dialogue,” he said.
