New Chief of Land Forces Appointed

Col. Koba Lachkepiani has been appointed as new commander of the land forces, replacing Zurab Agladze, the Georgian Defense Ministry said on February 17.

Agladze’s replacement comes less than six months after the appointment on the post. Less than a month after the August war Agladze replaced on the position Mamuka Balakhadze.

No reason of the recent replacement was reported.

Before the new appointment Col. Lachkepiani served as head of the MoD’s Krtsanisi National Training Center.
