Russia Reaffirms Plans to Build Bases in Abkhazia, S. Ossetia
Russia’s decision to deploy its military bases in breakaway Abkhazia and South Ossetia will not be revised, Russian Deputy PM, Sergey Ivanov, said in Munich on February 8.
“Russia’s decision to recognize the independence of these two states, to create there not large military bases in order to prevent one more – I already do not remember, fifth or sixth attempt by Georgia to settle the problem by military force – these decisions are irrevocable,” Ivanov said.
