Authorities Ask Expatriate Economists for Advice
The Georgian authorities invited to Tbilisi a group of Georgian economists working abroad for various corporations, mainly in banking sector, with an aim to, as officials said, share their advice about Georgia’s economic development with the authorities.
"This is your patriotic mission here," Saakashvili told the group at a meeting in Tbilisi on January 31 and added that their advice was valuable for the authorities, because in certain cases shortcomings in the country "are better seen from outside, than from within inside."
Before meeting with the President, the group met with PM-designate Nika Gilauri and Finance Minister-designate Kakha Baindurashvili, who have presented the government’s economic program. The meeting was also attended by influential figures from the Saakashvili’s administration, Tbilisi Mayor, Gigi Ugulava, and Justice Minister, Zurab Adeishvili.
