New Vice Speaker Approved
Paata Davitaia, a lawmaker from the parliamentary minority, who chaired the parliament’s temporary commission, which studied the August war, was approved as new vice speaker of the Parliament on December 26.
The Parliamentary Chairman already has four deputies from the ruling party – MP Mikheil Machavariani, MP Gigi Tsereteli, MP Rusudan Kervalishvili and MP Pridon Todua, as well as one deputy from the minority – Levan Vepkhvadze of the Christian-Democratic Party and Anzor Bolkvadze, a lawmaker elected in the Adjara’s Autonomous Republic.
