New Chair of Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee Approved
The Parliament has approved MP Akaki Minashvili from the ruling party as a new chairman of the parliamentary committee for foreign affairs.
This position has become vacant after ex-chairman Lasha Zhvania was appointed as Economy Minister.
Akaki Minashvili, 28, was an executive director of an influential non-governmental organization Liberty Institute in 2004-2006. He served in the National Security Council (NSC) under ex-NSC secretary Alexandre Lomaia in 2007-2008, before becoming a lawmaker after the May 21 parliamentary elections.
