Opposition Politician Hurls Water at MP in TV Debates
Koka Guntsadze, an opposition politician, hurled his glass of water at ruling party lawmaker Giorgi Kandelaki after the two politicians exchanged with verbal barbs during the live TV debates on December 22.
After hurling water, Guntsadze stood up and punched couple of times in Kandelaki’s face and then walked out of the TV studio. MP Kandelaki did not respond and continued participation in the program, which was aired by the Tbilisi-based Kavkasia TV and simulcast by the FM radio station, Ucnobi.
Guntsadze’s move came after MP Kandelaki told him: “you are impolite person,” in response to Guntsadze’s remarks in Kandelaki’s address: “keep you tongue behind you teeth.” Before that Kandelaki called on Guntsadze to be constructive in debates; in his turn Kandelaki also apologized for couple of times for interrupting his opponent during the debates.
After Guntsadze hurled his glass of water at Kandelaki, the latter tried to get his glass of water but failed as Guntsadze hurried to hurl the second glass too at Kandelaki’s face.
After Guntsadze walked out of the studio, the TV program was suspended and after it was resumed MP Kandelaki apologized to the audience for the incident, including in the name of Guntsadze too.
