NSC Chair to Become Georgia’s UN Envoy
Alexandre Lomaia, the secretary of National Security Council, confirmed on December 16, that he has been nominated as Georgia’s ambassador to the United Nations.
Lomaia, after the Parliament approves his nomination, will replace Irakli Alasania, who has filed resignation on December 4.
Meanwhile, Georgia’s Deputy Defense Minister, Batu Kutelia, is expected to become an ambassador to the United States – the position, which has become vacant after former ambassador, Davit Sikharulidze, was appointed as Defense Minister. Prison system chief, Bacho Akhalaia, is expected to replace Kutelia on the post of the deputy defense minister.
