U.S. Senator Kerry Visits Georgia
Incoming chairman of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, John Kerry, a Democrat from Massachusetts, is paying a one-day visit to Georgia on December 13.
Meetings with President Saakashvili, PM Grigol Mgaloblishvili, Vice-Speakers of the Parliament and representatives of the opposition is planned.
The visit is part of Senator Kerry’s first trip abroad as the incoming chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, which also includes Poland, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Kuwait.
Kerry is set to replace U.S. Vice President-elect Joe Biden on the Senate committee chairmanship.
