Saakashvili: Kitsmarishvili’s Allegations ‘Utter nonsense’

Georgia’s former ambassador Erosi Kitsmarishvili’s allegation that some senior officials in the Georgian leadership wrongly claimed that Tbilisi had “U.S. green light” to launch military operation against South Ossetia is “utter nonsense,” President Saakashvili said on November 28.

Speaking at a joint news conference with Danish Prime Minister, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, after the meeting in Tbilisi, Saakashvili said that Kitsmarishvili was not at all involved in any kind of strategic or military discussion taking place within the government when he served as ambassador.

President Saakashvili made these remarks before his planned testimony at the parliamentary commission, which study’s the August war. Saakashvili is expected to address the issue in details at the hearings.
