Russian Senators Ratify Treaties with Sokhumi, Tskhinvali
The Russian Council of Federation, the upper house of the Parliament, ratified the comprehensive treaties on friendship and cooperation with breakaway Abkhazia and South Ossetia on November 12, the Russian news agencies reported.
The Russian State Duma, the lower house of the Parliament, as well as the parliaments of the two breakaway regions, has already ratified the treaties.
The treaties envisaging mutual assistance, including in the military sphere, were signed by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and secessionist leaders in Moscow on September 17.
