No Radical Changes Planned in Cabinet ? Saakashvili

President Saakashvili said that PM-designate Grigol Mgaloblishvili had “full autonomy” in forming a new cabinet.

“The replacement of the prime minister in Georgia was caused by the fact that one stage has come to an end,” Saakashvili told journalists in Norway on October 29. “We need new programs; we need to keep our promises, with more energy, more successful implementation of the 18-month reconstruction programs and the return to the 50-month program.”

“Our major tasks do not change, but we need to fulfill them more vigorously,” he added.

Saakashvili said that the outgoing cabinet faced extremely difficult challenges and this factor should be taken into consideration in composing the new cabinet.

“I want to say that the PM-designate will enjoy full autonomy in nominating the new cabinet. He does not plan any radical changes. Of course, new blood is constantly necessary; renewal is constantly necessary,” he said.

It was initially planned to unveil the new cabinet in Parliament at 2:30pm local time on October 29, but the announcement will not be made till 5pm.
