U.S. Trade Delegation Visits Tbilisi
A U.S. trade delegation, led by Deputy Commerce Secretary John Sullivan is visiting Georgia on October 25-28.
The delegation will host a business summit, which will open in Tbilisi on October 27. The summit is designed “to help U.S. companies explore trade and investment opportunities in Georgia,” the U.S. embassy in Tbilisi said.
It also said that the delegation, which is the largest trade delegation to visit Georgia, is accompanied by eighteen U.S. businesses.
Participants include Robert A. Mosbacher Jr., the president and chief executive officer of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, Larry Walther, the director of the United States Trade and Development Agency, Jack McDougle, deputy under secretary for economic affairs in the Department of Commerce, and Paul B. Dyck, deputy assistant secretary for Europe in the Department of Commerce.
On September 19, Georgian Economy Minister Eka Sharashidze met U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez in Washington D.C.
“We look forward to working with Minister Sharashidze to expand the U.S.-Georgia trade and commercial relationship. We are committed to ensuring that the democratic and economic gains that Georgia has made over the past several years are not lost,” Gutierrez said after the meeting.
