Non-Parliamentary Opposition Addresses Foreign Diplomats
Opposition parties boycotting Parliament have asked foreign diplomats and international organizations based in Georgia to meet them separately from opposition parties that have taken their seats in the legislature.
The signatories of the address are: the New Rights, the Labor Party, Georgia’s Way, Conservatives, Republicans, Movement for United Georgia, Party of People, and Levan Gachechiladze.
They claim entering Parliament, which was elected through "fraudulent" elections, “drew a significant line between the above mentioned political parties and those represented in today’s parliament as ‘opposition’ and used by the Government for its narrow political purposes.”
“Striking difference between our positions became especially notable after the events of August 2008, when the parliamentary “opposition” acted in absolute unison with the Government and segregated from the non-parliamentary opposition,” the address reads.
