Nicaragua Recognizes Abkhazia, S.Ossetia

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega has formally recognized the independence of Georgia’s two breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, according to a statement posted on the Nicaraguan Foreign Ministry website on September 5.

Nicaragua is the first country after Russia to recognize the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
