MIA: Situation is Calm in S.Ossetia

The Georgian side has no plans “to take any special measures” in the South Ossetian conflict zone, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement on August 4.

“The situation was calm in the conflict zone last night; not a single incident was reported,” it said. “We hope that the calm situation will be maintained in future as well… We call on the Ossetian side to de-escalate tensions.”

Sporadic shooting was reported overnight on August 3 in the South Ossetian conflict zone, a day after the deadliest clashes in years, which left six people dead and 22 injured late on August 1 and overnight on August 2.
