Tskhinvali Insists on Talks in Frames of JCC

South Ossetian chief negotiator Boris Chochiev, who met Terhi Hakala, the head of the OSCE mission in Georgia, in Tskhinvali on July 24, said the South Ossetian side remained committed towards holding talks only within the frames of the quadripartite Joint Control Commission (JCC).

The South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported that a proposal by the Finnish OSCE chairmanship to arrange Georgian-South Ossetian talks in Helsinki was discussed during the meeting between Chochiev and the head of the OSCE mission.

In remarks posted on the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee website, Chochiev said that he had called on the OSCE to organize talks with the participation “of all the members of the JCC” – negotiators from the Georgian, South Ossetian, Russian and Russia’s North Ossetian sides.

The South Ossetian side has already refused to take part in talks in Brussels planned for July 22, citing the fact that the North Ossetian side had not been invited. The Russian side was invited.
