As expected, MP Jondi Bagaturia, the leader of Georgian Troupe party, said he would not renounce his MP mandate.

Bagaturia, who was elected to Parliament on the opposition coalition joint ticket, said the boycott was an “inappropriate” and useless tactic, citing that a unanimous opposition boycott had failed to materialise.

Bagaturia’s move automatically means his expulsion from the opposition coalition.

Seventeen MPs were elected on the coalition’s joint ticket; twelve of them, however, have already launched procedures to renounce their MP mandates; five have refused to do so.
