Election Watchdog Issues Early PVT Results
Local election watchdog New Generation–New Initiative (nGnI) issued early results of parallel vote tabulation (PVT), according to which the ruling party is leading in the Tbilisi’s Samgori district, as well as in Zugdidi, Gori and Batumi, while the nine-party opposition bloc leads the polls in the Tbilisi’s Vake district.
As a result of counting 24% of polling stations in the Vake single-mandate constituency, Davit Gamkrelidze, the leader of New Rights Party – part of the nine-party bloc – is leading in the majoritarian MP contest with 44,6% of votes; followed by the ruling party’s majoritarian MP candidate Zaza Gamtsemlidze with 36,9%; Levan Berdzenishvili of the Republican Party is third with 10,1%; Leila Gaprindashvili of the Labor Party – 3,9%.
In the proportional, party-list contest the nine-party opposition bloc received 39,47%; National Movement – 37,8%; Republican Party – 5,81%; Labor Party – 6,5%; Christian-Democratic Party – 6,16% in the Vake district.
As a result of counting 42% of polling stations in the Samgori district Rusudan Kervalishvili, the ruling party’s majoritarian MP candidate received 50,9% of voters, followed by Levan Gachechiladze, leader of the nine-party bloc with 35,6% of votes; Kakha Dzagania of the Labor Party – 9,41%; Gulo Zumbadze of the Republican Party – 1,63%;
In the proportional, party-list contest in the same district National Movement received – 43,4%; opposition bloc – 27,8%; Republican Party – 5,81%; Labor Party – 13,3%; Christian-Democratic Party – 8,88%.
As a result of counting one fifth of polling stations in the Zugdidi district, Pridon Todua of the National Movement is leading the polls with 65,1% of voters; he is followed by Koba Davitashvili of the opposition bloc with 8,87% of votes.
In the proportional, party-list contest in Zugdidi the National Movement received – 73%; the nine-party bloc – 9,14%; Christian-Democratic Party – 7,3%; Republican Party – 3,1%; Labor Party – 2,8%.
As a result of counting 60% of polling stations in the Gori district, Giorgi Tatishili of the ruling party is leading majoritarian MP contest with 73,9%, followed by Giorgi Mosidze of the opposition bloc with 11,6% of votes.
In the proportional, party-list contest in Gori the National Movement received – 73,9%; opposition bloc – 9,88%; Labor Party – 6,5%; Christian-Democratic Party – 4,48%; Republican Party – 3%.
In Batumi Davit Berdzenishvili of the Republican Party received 12% of votes, thus coming behind Temur Charkviani of the ruling party, who received 56,49% of votes. Jumber Tavartkiladze of the nine-party bloc received 10,4%.
In the proportional, party-list contest in Batumi the National Movement received – 51%; Christian-Democratic Party – 15,23% the nine-party bloc – 14,94%; Republican Party – 7,56%; Labor Party – 7,42%.
nGnI said that final results of PVT will be known by Thursday.
Another local election observer organization International Society for Free Elections and Democracy (ISFED) is also conducting PVT and its results are also expected for Thursday.
PVT entails counting votes simultaneously with officials from precinct election commissions.
