Russian, U.S. Diplomats Discuss Georgia
Grigory Karasin, the Russian deputy foreign minister and Daniel Fried, the U.S. acting undersecretary of state, discussed the situation in Abkhaz conflict zone during a telephone conversation on May 15.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the phone conversation was held upon the U.S. side’s request.
The two officials expressed concern over growth of tensions in the conflict zone and stressed the necessity for taking urgent measures to deescalate the situation, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
Also on May 15 Karasin met with Georgian ambassador to Russia Erosi Kitsmarishvili.
