IMF Mission Visits Georgia

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission, led by Paulo Neuhaus, arrived in Georgia on July 23 to discuss the current fiscal situation in the country.

The Mission is planning to hold talks with the President of the National Bank of Georgia, Irakli Managadze, and Finance Minister Zurab Noghaideli.

The issue of a three-year, USD 144 million arrangement for Georgia, which was approved by the IMF Executive Board in early June, is scheduled to be discussed during the talks.

The IMF stipulated that the funds will be directed through the Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility (PRGF) and will go towards support of the Georgian government’s economic programs until June, 2007.
