Lithuania Pledges Support for Georgia’s NATO Aspirations

Visiting Georgian Defense Minister Giorgi Baramidze and his Lithuanian counterpart Linas Linkevicius signed an agreement,which considers training two Georgian officers in the Lithuanian Military Academy, Baltic News Service reported on July 22.


Linas Linkevicius noted that Lithuania, which joined NATO in March, will continue to provide military assistance to Georgia, which will include training of military officers. Georgian Defense Minister Giorgi Baramidze welcomed Lithuania’s commitment to support Georgia’s efforts in joining NATO.


Georgian Defense Minister Giorgi Baramidze also met with the Lithuanian President, Valdas Adamkus, on July 19. The Lithuanian President also expressed support for Georgia’s aspirations to join NATO.
