CEC Chief Predicts High Voter Turnout
Voters have shown activeness in the early hours of Thursday?s elections, ?which makes us believe that the entire turnout will be very high,? Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Guram Chalagashvili said at a morning news conference on October 5.
He said that ?minor irregularities? of procedures have already been reported, but ?these [irregularities] can not influence the entire election process.?
The CEC Chairman also noted that the elections are being held without any ?obstacles? in all four polling stations of the Tbilisi-controlled upper Kodori Gorge in breakaway Abkhazia.
Two local election watchdog organizations, International Society for Fair Elections (ISFED) and New Generation-New Initiative (nGnI), are carrying out parallel vote tabulation (PVT). nGnI’s PVT results will be published on October 5, while ISFED will unveil its PVT results on October 6.
