‘Group of Friends’ Discuss Abkhaz Conflict
Representatives of the UN Secretary General’s Group of Friends on Georgia held talks in New York on September 22 on the sideline of the 61st Session of the UN General Assembly, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
“The sides exchanged opinions over the prospects of the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict resolution, along with the forthcoming discussion of this issue at the UN Security Council in mid October, as well as the current situation in the Kodori Gorge,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said on September 23.
The Russian side was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Yakovenko. Besides Russia, the UN Secretary General’s Group of Friends unites Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the United States.
