S.Ossetian Leader Offers Talks with JCC Negotiators

South Ossetian leader Eduard Kokoity has offered the Russian, Georgian and North Ossetian co-chairmen of the quadripartite negotiating body Joint Control Commission (JCC) to meet in Tskhinvali on September 17 to discuss the peace process in the frames of the JCC, the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported on September 16.

The Russian and North Ossetian sides accepted the South Ossetian leader?s proposal, according to the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee.

?Any dialogue among the JCC co-chairmen is useful,? RIA Novosti news agency quoted Russian chief negotiator Yuri Popov as saying.

But Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Merab Antadze will not attend the meeting, as he is scheduled to leave for a visit to the United States.

A session of the Joint Control Commission scheduled in Tskhinvali for September 15-16 was thwarted after a disagreement between the Georgian and Ossetian sides about the composition of the Georgian delegation.
