Serbian MFA Calls to Ban Arms Export to Georgia
Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic has called for the cancellation of Serbian arms exports to Georgia, alleging that these weapons may be used against Russia.
?While the export or transfer of weapons to Georgia is not strictly banned, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Draskovic, based on additional information that these weapons can be used against Russia, issued a decision not to provide permit for such export or transfer,? the Serbian Foreign Ministry said in an information note issued on September 11.
Meanwhile, the Serbian news agency BETA reported on September 13 citing Dragoljub Grujovic, director of the Zastava weapons plant in Kragujevac, that the Serbian government is undecided about the export of weapons to ?only one country.?
The Georgian Defense Ministry has declined to comment on deals with Serbia.
