Labor Party to Run in Elections
Radical opposition Labor Party leader Shalva Natelashvili said on August 31 that his party will run in the October 5 local self-governance elections independently without teaming up with any of the opposition party.
Speaking at a news conference, Natelashvili said that the Labor Party was in favor of boycotting elections, but then decided against the idea because most other opposition parties are participating in the elections.
?So we have also decided to accept the challenge and run in the elections to deliver a devastating blow to the Saakashvili?s bloody, anti-national, inhuman regime,? Natelashvili said.
He also said there is no reason to nominate a candidate for the Tbilisi mayoral race, because the Mayor will not be directly elected by voters. According to election law, the Mayor will be elected by the new City Council ? Sakrebulo.
