State Minister Meets New UN Envoy

Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Merab Antadze met with the newly-appointed UN Secretary General?s Special Representative in Georgia, French diplomat Jean Arnault, on August 21 to discuss the situation in breakaway Abkhazia.

The discussion also touched on Georgia?s readiness to provide conditions for the resumption of UN observer monitoring in upper Kodori Gorge, the State Minister?s press office reported.

Merab Antadze has expressed concern over the ?military rhetoric? of the Abkhaz side and said he is ready to travel to Sokhumi to hold talks with secessionist authorities.
