Defense Minister, UN Representatives Discuss Kodori
Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili held talks with Ivo Petrov, Acting Special Representative of the UN Secretary- General in Georgia, and Chief Military Observer, Major General Niaz Muhammad Khan Khattak, the Georgian Defense Ministry reported on August 11.
The sides discussed the recent developments in upper Kodori Gorge and the issue of conducting UN monitoring in the region. UN observers will be able to inspect the Kodori Gorge starting from August 20.
Tbilisi is also calling for simultaneous monitoring in the lower part of the gorge, which is controlled by the Abkhaz separatist authorities.
