Exiled Abkhaz Officials Pay Fact Finding Visit to Kodori

A team from the Abkhaz government-in-exile left on July 31 for upper Kodori, where the headquarters of the currently Tbilisi-based authorities is to be established.

The team, led by head of the Abkhaz government-in-exile Malkhaz Akishbaia, will study the situation on the ground in Kodori Gorge, said Temur Mzhavia, the chairman of the Tbilisi-based Abkhaz Supreme Council ? an exiled legislative body.

It is not yet clear exactly when the officials will be able to move from Tbilisi to Kodori ? a decision which has already triggered the Abkhaz side?s protest.
