MP Tevdoradze to Become Deputy State Minister

MP Elene Tevdoradze, who chairs the human rights committee in the outgoing parliament, said President had proposed her to take the post of deputy state minister for reintegration and she had agreed.

“It is already decided,” she said in an interview with the weekly Kviris Palitra published on April 28, “I will be appointed deputy state minister for reintegration and I will be in charge of human rights. The president has offered me to take a new position where I could continue my usual work [in human rights]. I think I made a right decision.”

MP Tevdoradze will no longer run in the parliament on May 21, as she was not included in the ruling party list of MP candidates. Only about dozen of sitting lawmakers from the ruling party were again included in the party list for the May 21 elections.
