Kokoity Hails Moscow’s Move, Calls on Tbilisi for Restraint

South Ossetian secessionist leader Eduard Kokoity welcomed Russia’s decision to establish official links with breakaway South Ossetia and Abkhazia and told the Georgian authorities to take this decision “with calm.”

“There is no need to hold emergency sessions and fall into hysteria – which is so characteristic to the Georgian authorities – telling the entire world that an annexation is taking place… There is no need to fuel up tensions,” Kokoity said on April 17.

Kokoity made remarks after attending the close-door session of the Russian State Duma’s committee on security issue in Moscow.
