Inter-Agency Group on Elections Reactivated
The inter-agency governmental group, established to act as a rapid reaction mechanism in case of violations during electoral campaigns, has been re-activated, the president’s press office said on March 27.
The eight-member inter-agency group includes: Justice Minister Nikoloz Gvaramia and his first deputy, Tinatin Burjaliani; Deputy Interior Minister Ekaterine Zguladze and Director of the Analytical Department of Interior Ministry Shota Utiashvili; Deputy Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze and head of the MFA’s Department for International Organizations Sergi Kapanadze; State Minister for Regional Coordination Issues Davit Tkeshelashvili; head of the Legal Department of the General Prosecutor’s Office Tinatin Goletiani.
The group operated prior to the January 5 presidential election. Eka Tkeshelashvili, then justice minister and current general prosecutor, chaired the group.
