Saakashvili Meets Russia’s Ivanov
President Saakashvili met with Russia’s first deputy prime minister, Sergei Ivanov, in Munich on the sidelines of an international security conference on February 10, Russian news agencies reported.
President Saakashvili confirmed after the meeting that he would attend an informal summit of CIS leaders in Moscow on February 22, where, he said, he wanted to meet with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, RIA Novosti and Itar-Tass news agencies reported.
“I have confirmed my participation [in the CIS summit] and I will definitely go to Moscow and talk with among others, President Vladimir Putin,” Saakashvili said.
“It will be a good opportunity to discuss bilateral relations in an informal [setting],” Ivanov said after the meeting with Saakashvili. “Russia also wants to bring our relations out of crisis.”
