Abkhazia Exports Wine to Russia
Abkhazia exported 120,000 bottles of wine to Russia in January, with the figure expected to rise to 250,000 this month, Abkhaz news agency, Apsnipress, reported on February 6.
?Over the past two years, [the Abkhaz president and government] have been working actively with the Russian government on getting Abkhaz wine back into the Russian market,? Nikolai Achba, Director-General of the local state-run wine producing company, Wines and Waters of Abkhazia, said, according to Apsnipress.
Russia banned the import of Abkhaz wine in March 2006, when it imposed an economic blockade on Georgia.
