Saakashvili in Strasbourg for PACE Session
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili is in Strasbourg to address the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on January 24.
On January 21 the Russian PACE delegation tried to block Saakashvili?s address, saying that it would amount to taking sides ahead of the parliamentary elections. The PACE Parliamentary Assembly Bureau, however, insisted that Saakashvili be invited.
Saakashvili?s speech is planned for 6pm Tbilisi time, followed by Q&A session.
Saakashvili is also expected to hold talks with PACE President Llu?s Maria de Puig, CoE Secretary General Terry Davis and European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) President Jean-Paul Costa.
