Suspension of Imedi Broadcasts No Surprise ? Burjanadze
The suspension of Imedi TV broadcasts came as no surprise, as it would have been difficult for journalists to continue working there following the release of covertly recorded video and audio tapes implicating the station’s owner and presidential candidate Badri Patarkatsishvili in an alleged coup plot, Nino Burjanadze said on December 27.
?[The release of the tapes has made] it much easier to explain developments over the last two months, particularly to those who had doubted what we have been saying. These people will now be able to analyze all these developments and find out what was behind them and understand how the country was brought to the edge of political crisis,? Burjanadze said.
