PM in Talks with Imedi Co-Owner News Corp.
Georgian Prime Minister Lado Gurgenidze met with representatives of News Corporation, the company which co-owns Imedi TV and radio stations, on November 26 in Tbilisi.
?We have laid out our vision; we have put forth very concrete proposals and a set of conditions needed to resolve the issue,? Gurgenidze told journalists after the meeting. ?Now News Corp. will consider [them] and I hope it will come back with constrictive remarks and counter-proposals. This is a normal negotiating process initiated by us.?
Mikheil Saakashvili said on November 24, before he stepped down as President, that Imedi TV would resume broadcasting only after there were guarantees that it would no longer be ?a weapon in the hands? of another co-owner, business tycoon Badri Patarkatsishvili.
