GEL 20 Million Planned for Snap Polls
The government plans to allocate about GEL 20 million to organize early presidential elections and a plebiscite on the timing of parliamentary polls, Nika Gilauri, the finance minister, said on November 13.
?Currently it is being calculated exactly how much the Central Election Commission [CEC] will need to organize elections. We think, it will apparently be about GEL 20 million,? Gilauri told reporters after a cabinet meeting.
The finance minister explained that no amendments to the state budget would be necessary, as the extra allocation for the CEC would come from the presidential and government?s reserve funds.
The 2007 state budget allocated GEL 9.5 million to the Central Election Commission.
