Police May Question Some Opposition Leaders – MP

Opposition leaders may be questioned by police ?as witnesses? to their alleged links to the Russian intelligence services.

On November 7 the Interior Ministry released taped audio and video material purporting to show MP Levan Berdzenishvili of Republican Party, Giorgi Khaindrava of opposition group Equality Institute, Konstantine Gamsakhurdia, the leader of Freedom Party and Shalva Natelashvili, the leader of Labor Party, cooperating with operatives from the Russian intelligence service.

?These people will be interrogated as witnesses and appropriate measures will be taken after the interview,? MP Kalandadze, deputy chairperson of the parliamentary committee for legal issues, told Civil.Ge on November 8. ?It is natural, however, that each of them share different levels of responsibility.?
