List of Tbilisi Summit Participants Unveiled

Tbilisi Summit 2007: Building Europe?s East will open in the evening on November 1 in the Tbilisi History Museum (Caravanserai) in the old part of the capital city.


List of participants include over 100 foreign guest with Carl Bildt, the Swedish Foreign Minister; Daniel Fried, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs; Yaroslav Neverovich, the Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister; Terry Davis, the Council of Europe Secretary General and Marc de Brichambaut, the OSCE Secretary General, the highest ranking foreign officials participating in the summit.


The Georgian authorities claimed previously presidents of several countries were expected at the summit.


The official website of the conference said that issues related with EU Neighborhood Policy, energy security and secessionist conflicts would be discussed.


The conference will be opened by President Saakashvili, followed by keynote speech by Daniel Fried, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State. The conference will continue on November 2 with part of the day in Tbilisi and the second half in the town of Signagi, in the eastern region of Kakheti.


Trips to South Ossetian conflict zone and Adjara Autonomous Republic are also planned for the conference participants on November 3 and November 4, respectively.


The conference coincides with the opposition?s planned protest rally in Tbilisi for November 2.
