State Minister in New York Ahead of UN Abkhaz Resolution

Davit Bakradze, the Georgian state minister for conflict resolution issues, left for New York to participate in closed-door UN Security Council consultations on Abkhazia, scheduled for October 11.

The Security Council is expected to pass a resolution on October 15 on Abkhazia, which will prolong the UN Observer Mission in Georgia (UNOMIG) mandate.

Bakradze told reporters before his departure that he planned meetings with the UN Under-Secretary-General in charge of peacekeeping operations, Jean-Marie Gu?henno, as well as with the representatives of all fifteen member states of the Security Council.
