Opposition Agrees on Joint Plan

The leaders of eight opposition parties met on October 1 at the Labor Party headquarters in Tbilisi to discuss their campaign to challenge the arrest of ex-Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili and to demand early parliamentary elections.

?We have agreed on all the issues,? Giorgi Khaindrava, former State Minister and now an activist from the Equality Institute, told reporters after the meeting. ?Tomorrow we will hold a presentation of our campaign and inform the public of our plans.?

Those involved in the joint campaign have insisted that their cooperation does not necessarily mean there will be a pre-election pact in the run-up to parliamentary elections in late 2008.
