PACE Delegation Visits Georgia

Matyas Eorsi and Kastriot Islami, co-rapporteurs from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) with responsibility for monitoring Georgia, are paying a fact-finding visit to Georgia on September 11-16.

During the visit, they will meet President Saakashvili, Prime Minister Nogaideli and other officials. They are also expected to meet politicians from both the ruling majority and opposition factions.

The PACE delegation also plans to visit breakaway South Ossetia and Abkhazia on September 13 and 14, respectively, to hold talks with the secessionist authorities.

The co-rapporteurs are also expected to meet Dimitri Sanakoev, the head of the Tbilisi-backed South Ossetian provisional administration.
