CEC Chief Becomes Chair of Energy Regulatory Commission
Giorgi Tavadze, the chairman of the Georgian National Energy Regulatory Commission, will be replaced by Guram Chalagashvili, who currently serves as chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), PM Zurab Nogaideli?s press office has confirmed.
It is still unclear who will replace Chalagashvili as CEC chairman. The position is of crucial importance ahead of next year?s parliamentary and presidential elections.
President Saakashvili, in accordance with the law, must nominate and seek parliamentary approval for a CEC chairman candidate.
