OSCE Chairman’s Envoy Meets S.Ossetian Leader
José Borrell Fontelles, the OSCE chairman-in-office’s special envoy, met South Ossetian secessionist leader Eduard Kokoity in Tskhinvali on July 26.
Kokoity expressed his regret to the envoy that international organizations, including the OSCE, were engaged in contacts with the Tbilisi-backed South Ossetian provisional administration, according to the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee.
“This kind of contact undermines the South Ossetian population’s confidence in international organizations,” he said.
Before travelling to Tskhinvali, the special envoy met Davit Bakradze, the Georgian state minister for conflict resolution issues, in Tbilisi on July 25. Dimitri Sanakoev, the head of South Ossetia’s provisional administration, was also present at the meeting.
