Allied Irish Bank Ponders Georgia Investment
Ireland’s largest bank, Allied Irish Bank (AIB), is looking at investment opportunities in Georgia, the central bank said on July 23.
Roman Gotsiridze, the president of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), briefed visiting officials from AIB ?about the current state of affairs in the country?s banking sector and also discussed AIB?s interest in investing in one of Georgia?s commercial banks,? according to the NBG.
Gotsiridze said that the banking sector, which he expects to attract USD 700 in investment this year, was one of the leading sectors of the country?s economy.
