GEL 500,000 for S.Ossetia SMEs
Kazbegi, a beer company, plans to invest GEL 500,000 (up to USD 300,000) this year to foster small and medium agricultural enterprises in South Ossetia.
Gogi Topadze, the owner of the company and the leader of the moderate opposition Industrialist party, visited the conflict zone on July 20 and met Dimitri Sanakoev, the head of the Tbilisi-backed South Ossetian provisional administration. MP Zurab Tkemaladze, the leader of the Industrialist party?s parliamentary group, accompanied Topadze.
A large chunk of the financial package, GEL 200,000, has already been allocated to the provisional administration to build a shopping center and a fruit processing facility.
The remaining GEL 300,000 will be spent in 2007 on development of apiculture, a beef processing and the manufacturing of construction industry raw materials.
Project priorities were developed by the provisional administration and then proposed to the company, Tea Skhiereli, a Kazbegi spokesperson, told Civil.Ge on July 21.
